Captured Windows Printer Manager
Under the Windows operating system, you can Set-up
a printer and assign a variety of different printing properties,
such as font, orientation, color processing etc. The process of
Capturing a Windows printer is one way of acquiring and remembering
these special properties for future use so the operator does not
have to repeat the set-up process.
In your ACUCOBOL-GT® configuration file, you would
normally have created a printer queue using the PrintQueue
-P SPOOLER syntax. If when generating a report and
this printer is chosen, the runtime will use the default printer
and any associated characteristics. When a Windows printer is captured
and is associated to a particular Printer Queue, (see the section
on Printer Queue Manager), then the system can automatically set
the properties and print to that particular printer.
The process of capturing a windows printer is
an alternative approach to defining a printer queue using the PrintQueue
-Q \\Printername syntax, except there is no limitation
of the properties that can be set for the printer.
Key Benefits
- When selecting a generic Windows printer, -p
spooler, the system will automatically print
to the captured printer without operator intervention
- When predefining printer properties, you are not limited
to those available with the PrintQueue -Q \\Printername
syntax

Key Features
- Captures the properties for a particular printer that
may be configured with special characteristics
- You can assign any of the characteristics associated to
a printer that is normally made available by its drivers
via the Windows Printer Setup dialogue window
