UCC Direct needed to provide our customers with the details and
status of their accounts payable. Due to the volume of transactions
involved in our billing, many customers needed to receive and process
their billing in electronic form. It was taking a long time for
our customers to analyze, reconcile and record their invoices and
make their payments when billing information was only in paper form.
Confidentially and security issues along with ease of use were significant
concerns with any solution that might be implemented.
Sentinel Hill provided a Web based solution that our customers
could use. Through our corporate web site, our customers sign on
with a user code and a password to review their account and receive
electronic billing. They can see a list of past and current invoices,
view a summary of their account status, and view the invoice as
it was originally printed. They can also view supporting details
associated to the invoice, not originally printed on the invoice.
They can even have copies of the invoices emailed directly to them
or obtain a spreadsheet of individual detail of charges by making
the request from the web page.
Sentinel Hill Software’s WEB Access Manager
provided a solution with the security and speed we needed. We use
a UNIX mainframe as the primary server with a second UNIX server
used as a corporate web site. A third Windows PC executes the WEB
Access Manager application, and Sentinel Hill’s E-Request
Job Service routine. All the applications are written with Acucorp’s
Acucobol-GT® COBOL utilizing AcuServer® and AcuConnect®
for distributed processing.
We have been using Sentinel Hill Software general
accounting software systems since 1984. They are and have always
been responsive to all our needs and changes in technology. The
WEB solution has far exceeded our expectation. It has relieved the
tedious tasks of finding copies of invoices and faxing them to our
customers or preparing and mailing diskettes of detail billing.
The average time for the collection of receivables has dropped dramatically.
But it has influenced more than our customers. Our own staff use
the WEB to review customer status of invoices and related information.
Sentinel Hill’s web software solutions have enhanced our business
capabilities and enabled us to provide a competitive advantage in
our industry.
