Portland Cement Association promotes the development, general welfare, and expansion of the cement and concrete industries in the United States and Canada. We have been using Sentinel Hill Software’s accounting packages since 1986 and have also internally developed our own customized billing and membership applications. When the Sentinel Hill accounting packages were converted to Windows based graphical applications and installed at our location, we recognized that our own software was outdated. Our systems lacked the flexibility and uniformity of the GUI systems.

Sentinel Hill Software provided us with their GUI Developer’s Libraries, and with their assistance our Membership Billing system was re-engineered. It now executes under Windows with a rich set of functions and features found in the graphical applications. I was initially reluctant to begin this project because the amount of time and money we had put into developing our applications internally. But after making the decision to proceed I was very impressed with how fast and smooth the implementation of our billing system evolved. Two of our applications, consisting of about 50 separate COBOL programs were operational after only 4 man months of effort. This project turned out to be very cost-effective.

Our data entry clerks are pleased with Sentinel Hill Software’s GUI based software – both the main accounting packages and the custom work. I have recently contracted Sentinel Hill to convert our remaining internally developed applications. We have enjoyed working with Larry Carlsen, Sentinel’s principal. He carries an impressive aura of professionalism and experience. I would not hesitate to recommend his services and products to others.
